org June 27, 2023 AFSCME SUPPORT STAFF POSITION OPENING SCHOOL SECURITY GUARD CURRENT ASSIGNMENT WILL BE MIDDLE SCHOOL Working as part of a team, along with administration, the School Security Guard plays a key role in our plan to ensure a safe and secure school environment.
They help to foster a positive school culture and climate.
A calm, structured, and positive learning environment is a top priority for our security team.
Security personnel actively engage in supporting students in order for them to be successful in the classroom and school community.
The School Security Guard must maintain a high level of situational awareness to identify hazardous/threatening situations and immediately make appropriate notifications.
The role of a School Security Guard can also be physically demanding as they are part of the first line of defense to defuse and de-escalate student misconduct and/or serious incidents.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent Five (5) years' experience in security or law enforcement is preferred Valid PA driver's license is required Ability to work calmy under pressure Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to use and learn required computer applications as appropriate to position Ability to work independently and cooperatively Ability to recognize, respect, and maintain the confidentiality of issues, records, and information Demonstrate an interest in the well-being of every student Personal characteristics are indicative of maturity, flexibility, tactfulness, cooperation, and cheerfulness that are conducive to a harmonious relationship with school district personnel and the public Ability to reach above and below the waist, stoop, kneel, bend, and twist Ability to use fingers to pick, feel, and grasp objects Ability to lift and/or carry supplies weighing no more than 30 lbs.
Ability to mostly walk, stand, and move throughout the work environment, minimal sitting Must be able to attend and complete required training offered by the School District as well as those required by the state such as NASRO training Appropriately dressed, dependable, loyal, and discreet Pay Rate:
